Cryotherapy is an alternative to surgery or radiation for the treatment of prostate cancer. The procedure involves using ultrasound to guide the insertion of five to seven thin metal rods into the prostate. Once the rods are in place, liquid nitrogen is released into the them. This freezes the nearby tissue, causing the cancerous cells to die.
Benefits of Cryotherapy
• Minimally invasive procedure with minimum blood loss
• Able to accurately ablate all sizes of prostate with this technology
• Preoperative planning facilitates accurate clinical outcomes
