Physical Therapy For Incontinence & Pelvic Pain

Most people associate physical therapy with helping patients recover from injuries, but it can also be a solution for bladder control and pelvic floor problems. Just as physical therapy can help an accident victim regain the use of muscles in an arm, these therapies can also help a patient exercise pelvic floor muscles and eliminate incontinence.

At Alliance Urology Specialists, you’ll find a physical therapy staff specially trained to help male and female patients overcome incontinence and other pelvic floor dysfunction problems without surgery.

Conditions We Treat Include:

As with any medical condition, the key to proper treatment is an accurate diagnosis. While urologic symptoms such as incontinence and pelvic pain may be the reason a patient seeks help, the cause of the problems might not be urologic. If the underlying cause is a mechanical, muscular problem, physical therapy can help correct the condition, thereby relieving the urologic symptoms.

In addition, there are different types of pelvic floor dysfunctions and causes for incontinence, each one presenting its own set of challenges when it comes to treatment. Alliance Urology Specialists offers a variety of physical therapy options that we tailor to fit the specific treatment plan of each patient.

Physical Therapy Treatment Options Include:

  • Exercise (strength, relaxation, coordination)
  • Biofeedback
  • Behavior Modification
  • Behavior Techniques
  • Electrical Stimulation
  • Ultrasound
  • Manual Therapy
